Field Log Entry #7 Your Everyday Bag

A good tote bag can come in handy quite often. I've found myself in countless situations wishing I'd had a tote to toss stuff in while I'm on the go. Totes offer a quick alternative to choosing between paper or plastic and also give you the opportunity to load up some of the freshest fruits and veggies at any farmers market.

I've slowly seen the Strawfoot Handmade Tote Bag become my most used bag, simply because of its convenience and durability. In California you don't see a lot of men carrying bags around outside of major cities like SF and LA. Even in those major cities your more likely to see backpacks than anything else, for the most part. Cars have become the main source of ones contents in the suburbs of California, making use of mens bags almost obsolete for most people. That by no means doesn't mean you'll never need a good bag at times.

I've slowly made keeping my waxed canvas tote in the car mandatory. Whether its in the trunk or thrown in the backseat, it's on hand for any situation that might come my way. Throw one in your car and give it a try, I can almost guarantee you'll find yourself using it a lot more often then you would think. If you don't drive very often or don't have a car, hang your tote somewhere by your front door, you'll end up leaving the house with it almost everyday.

When you have a bag that looks as good as this, you'll find any excuse you can to take it out and show it off.
